When I'm in the mood for a hearty breakfast, such a steak and eggs or pancakes, I head over to Carol's and grab a spot at the counter. Jaime is usually the one up front and has become my favorite server. The food is consistently solid. I have never had a meal that I didn't love. The restaurant is homey and comforting. It feels like a hug from your grandma. If you're a fan of bread pudding, you must try theirs. It's made in house and is a hefty serving. I still have dreams about it. My only qualm is that they don't have vanilla ice cream to serve it with. I just ask for extra whipped cream.

Great breakfast or brunch! Best value for the price. Excellent biscuits & gravy. Superb homemade soups; I sometimes purchase a quart to go!

We decided to try out Carol's in person instead of through delivery and so happy we did! Amazing service, huge menu, and fantastic specialties. Must try the chili Verde breakfast enchiladas; stuffed with tender pork and fluffy scrambled eggs and topped with the best enchilada sauce I ever had! Chicken fried steak was crispy and tender and tasted homemade. The gravy was also meaty and delicious; nothing like the powder mix gravy used at most places. The servers were attentive and friendly and the food arrived quickly despite the crowded dining room. We have found our new favorite breakfast spot! Looking forward to trying something new next weekend.

This review is strictly for food only. I ordered breakfast for the first time through DoorDash. I got Louisiana omelet with bacon and jalapeño added with side of sliced tomato and sourdough toast. The omelet was so delicious and the sourdough toast was a very good sourdough. I'd like to try corn beef hash next time!

Carol's is located across from city hall. We've driven by many times but, never have stopped in. It's a very popular place for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. It's always packed. There are always cars parked in front. It reminds me of an old school diner on the inside. It's very roomy inside with lots of seating. It even has a counter you can eat at. There were a number of people at the counter. For the kids they have a kids menu and crayons so you can color the menu. There are several tables that hold up to six people. I think they can even put tables together to seat 8. They have a clean bathroom, you just have to ask for the code. Because it always looks packed we made sure we got there early. We arrived on a Sunday at 8am and there were plenty of tables. There was a stream of people coming in after we were seated. Most were coming in the back door. I didn't realize it, but they have their own lot out back. So the front is always full of cars, we lucked out and got a spot and their back lot was full when we drove away. Service was great. They were very attentive and refilled the coffee multiple times. Placing our orders went smooth. Our food came out pretty quickly. Our breakfast came with hash browns or fruit and his came with toast (rye or sourdough, or English muffin). He got the English Muffin and he said that was the best part of his meal along with the fruit we both got. The fruit consisted of grapes, fresh pineapple, and cantaloupe. All were sweet and tasty. He got the Denver omelet. He said it tasted good, but was a bit dry. I got the special. Bacon Avocado Benedict. The presentation was good and it tasted great, the bacon was crispy like I enjoy. The only issue I had was the hollandaise sauce was not hot it was lukewarm. I'd order it again and chock it up as a fluke.

Left Elite Dog Training and my wife was starving. She was a little skeptical of the area as we drove down West Capitol Avenue, and I convinced her the food was great. Been here once before. Ambiance It is dated but very clean. They pack u in tight like sardines. Reminds me of Pancake Circus on Broadway but the food and service is way better. Service Matt was great, the menu is large so he made some suggestions. He kept the coffee coming. Food Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs So freakin good, gravy cooked perfectly. Hard to find good chicken fried steak in Sac Strawberry Waffle Breakfast. Matt said the strawberries are fresh in a glaze, home made whipped cream. I get a little skeptical when it comes to strawberries in glaze, funnel cakes at State Fair never have fresh strawberries. Matt was right strawberries are fresh. Everything is a 5. When I am in area for breakfast this is the place.

Weekend brunching is a must, but with so many options where can you go for great food at an even better price? Look no further than Carol's restaurant. The place was packed but after less than a ten minute wait the friendly staff got us seated. Speaking of seating they can accommodate small and large parties with ease. I wound up ordering an iced tea; freshly brewed, and the western scrambler. The western scrambler is an omelette with diced bacon, green onions, mushrooms, bell pepper, Jack and cheddar cheese. It comes with toast and hash browns or home fries. Originally I was going to ask for the Blackberry pancake special but they were sold out, so I suggest arriving earlier if you want to try one of the specials. My partner and I were shocked at how affordable the prices were and we will for sure bring friends next time with us and introduce them to this old school diner. Side note if you're looking to add local art to your wall and support the west Sacramento art guild, this place has really beautiful pieces on sale.

Wasn't sure what to expect when coming into this place but we were delightfully surprised. Came here on a Saturday Morning, prime time for breakfast/brunch rush, and the place was filled to the brim of what it seemed to look like MANY locals. So that alone gave us a good sign the food was tasty. After about 15 minutes we were seated and our waitress took our order quite quickly. We ordered the corn beef hash and the gravy English muffin breakfast. Both are very delicious. For the amount of food given, and taste, along with the price you were definitely getting a bang for your buck here. We came out of there with leftovers and full bellies. Inside it's pretty loud and busy. Everyone's bustling around to either get their food, and just enjoy other people's company. I really liked how there was local artwork on the walls of places around SAC and of I assume artists in the city. 2 tips for this place: - if you're coming on a weekend be prepared to wait but in all honesty, it's worth it and the staff is very welcoming. - beware of the parking lot. It's really small, and can be very confusing on what direction to go. It's a bit of a free for all with only one narrow entrance/exit. I recommend either street parking, or parking in the lot behind it by the library. We ended up having multiple traffic jams trying to find a space.
